North Carolina Food Council Gathers at Rocky Mount Event Center

Event To Positively Impact Local Food and Farm Economy

The downtown state-of-art-facility, Rocky Mount Event Center, will host the Cultivating Community Through Food: NC Food Council Gathering on December 5-6, 2019. This special council gathering will bring together community leaders, entrepreneurs, educators, farmers, youth, local government and health professionals interested in bridging community through food.

The organization hosting this event, Community Food Strategies, works to empower local food councils with knowledge and organizational capacity to positively impact a community’s local food and farm economy. “Because we have local food councils from all over the state attending this conference, we are happy to host the event at the Rocky Mount Event Center, which is easily accessible for many of our participants.” Says Michelle Aronson, Interim Communications Manager for Community Food Strategies.

The Community Food Strategies team consists of food systems experts that provide leadership and technical support to communities interested in food council development across North Carolina. This organization offers a diverse skill set that includes robust community engagement, strategic planning, organizational development, systems thinking, dynamic facilitation experience, and community food systems strategy. Led by the Center for Environmental Farming Systems (CEFS), this project’s partners include:

 

The Rocky Mount Event Center is located at 285 NE Main Street, Rocky Mount, NC. Rocky Mount Event Center opened October 2018 and is managed by the industry-leading sport facility management firm, The Sports Facilities Management.
