On Saturday, October 5, 2019, 2-6pm, the 2019 Raleigh Tamale Festival returns with tamale competitions, performances, vendors, food trucks, and more.

This annual event, which draws several thousand visitors, is organized by the city’s Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources (PRCR) department. Local cooks, food truck operators, and others sign up to compete for the title of “Best Tamale in Raleigh.”

Tamale varieties may vary by meat, sauce, filling, and wrap (leaf vs. husk). Try more than a few to get the full experience.

Enjoy this outdoor event and be sure to stay the day to see all the performances and visit the local vendors.

The 2019 Raleigh Tamale Festival will be held at the Dix Park flower field, 2105 Umstead Drive, Raleigh, North Carolina (Wake County).

Entry is free. Registration (RSVP) prior to the event date is appreciated and helps the organizers plan for the crowd.

Updates may be posted on the Viva Raleigh Facebook page, or Raleigh Parks on Twitter.
