On Sunday, December 8, 2019, 4-6pm, a free music event, A Soulful Christmas Celebration 2019, will be held in Wilson, North Carolina. This concert by Vision Community Theatre Group will provide an evening of beautiful music, and donations will be collected at the door to help make the holidays brighter, and bellies full, for area residents.
Entry for the “musical celebration of the season and the reason” is free, no money required, but guests are asked to bring two donations with them:
- 1 non-perishable food item to help local residents
- 1 wrapped shoe box with gifts for a senior citizen, also to be distributed locally
This free concert will be held at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2512 W Nash Street, Wilson, NC. Register today via EventBrite.
Food items appropriate would be the types of shelf-stable, non-breakable items that you’d donate to a food pantry: canned vegetables/fruits, soups, dry mixes, peanut butter, and so on. Food items received will be used to provide food bags for seniors in need and the rest donated to the St John AME Zion Church Food Pantry.
Businesses and grocers that wish to donate bulk food items, contact Toshika Johnson Smith at 252.363.8480.
The gift boxes will be distributed to seniors residing at Gee Corbett Village apartments in Wilson, NC. The goal is a minimum of 50 Christmas gift shoe boxes. Here are a few suggested items:
