On Sunday, February 2, 2020, Wellspring Church, located in Wake Forest, North Carolina, will be holding a “Football Sunday” event featuring Super Bowl-themed games, followed by a “football and faith” worship service, and then a tailgate party with more activities.
Football Sunday is free to attend, and all are welcome (no age limits). Bring the entire family. No need to bring food, just attend and have fun. (Wear your favorite team’s jersey, if you like.)
All events and the service will take place at Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road, Wake Forest, NC.
Pre-service fun will include popcorn, drinks, football picture photo booths, and other “pre-game” fun. The school foyer will be set up like a tailgate party.
During the service, which begins at 10am, see fun football highlight reels and hear the stories of those who played football, and responded to a higher calling beyond the fame, money, and fandom. Listen to stories from:
- Benjamin Watson of the New England Patriots
- Nate Solder of the New York Giants
- Prince Amukamara of the Chicago Bears
- and others
Said Eric Newkirk of Wellspring Church:
“We will also hear from NFL players from both teams that will play in Super Bowl 2020 that night! Their stories during the service are relevant and very inspirational.”
Following the service, stay for a tailgating experience beginning around 11am, complete with food and snacks. Join in (or watch) the football-themed games — a timed 40-yard dash, ladder drills, football throws, and more.
Football Sunday will end around 12:45pm, so that people may go home and get ready to watch the Super Bowl, which begins airing at 6:30pm.
