Wilson County Public Library offers programs for all ages. Coming up in November, enjoy storytimes, a family movie, and more this month at the Main Library and Branches.

Main Library hours are Monday through Wednesday 9am-9pm, Thursday through Saturday 9am-6pm. Branch hours vary.

All locations are closed on Sundays.

Main Library Programs

Children’s Programs

Storytimes

  • Lapsit (ages 0-2): Every Wednesday and Thursday @ 9:30am
  • Preschool storytime: Every Wednesday and Thursday @ 10am
  • Family storytimes:  Saturdays @ 3pm

The above storytime events are held in the Children’s Room.  No registration is required.

Ozobots*

Tuesday, November 6, 2018 @ 7pm

“Pocket Size Robots, Infinite possibilities.” Come and play with Ozobots in the Children’s Room. Recommended for ages 6 and up. Registration required.

Snap Circuits*

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 @ 7pm

Explore electricity and circuits with Snap Circuit in the Children’s Room. Recommended for ages 4 and up. No registration required.

Turkey Craft Night*

Tuesday, November 20, 2018 @ 7pm

Join us to make a Thanksgiving turkey in the Children’s Room. Recommended for ages 4 and up.  No registration required.

Lego Club*

International Games Week

Celebrate with a night of classic board games, puzzles, and video games in the Assembly Room. Event designed for ages 12-18.  No registration required. Check the CrAFT Studio each day for our game of the day during the week.

Knitting for Knewbies*

Tuesday, November 13, 2018 @ 6-8pm

Join us as we learn how to knit using quick knit looms in the Assembly Room. Designed for ages 12-18.  No registration required.

Teen Advisory Board Meeting

Wednesday, November 14, 2018 @ 6-7pm

Join the Teen Advisory Board (TAB) and have a voice in choosing the library’s Teen programming, services, and resources.  You can also earn those sweet community service hours. Held in the Main Library CrAFT Studio on the second floor. No registration required.

Learn how to create, format, and save a document using Microsoft Word as a word processor.  Prerequisites include the mastery of mouse handling and keyboarding. Held in the Conference Room. Registration required.

Learn the basics of spreadsheets, an interactive computer application used for organization, analysis, and storage of data. Keyboard and basic computer proficiency required. Held in the Conference Room. Registration required.

Wire Wrap Bracelets Craft Class

Join guest presenter Debbie Skinner as she walks us through the process of making a beautiful beaded wire-wrap bracelet.  Learn the techniques and take home a finished bracelet.  This free class is open to adults 18 and older. Pre-thanksgiving Family Movie

The 135th USCT: In their Own Words

Thursday, November 15, 2018 @ 2-3pm

Amy Bauer will present her genealogical research on the 200 North Carolina men that served in 135th regiment of US Colored Troops (USCT) during the Civil War. Bauer’s research emphasizes that while the 135th USCT are a lesser known part of North Carolina’s Civil War history, their efforts should not be forgotten. Held in the Assembly Room. Wilson County Genealogical Society Meeting

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 @ 7pm

Dr. James Bailey, professor emeritus, Minnesota State University, Mankato and Margaret Bailey, B.A., English Literature and Secondary Education, University of North Carolina at Wilmington will present the “Northfield Robbery:  Wilson County Genealogical Connections to Jesse James.” The presentation will include information about Wilson County surnames and possible connections to Jesse James, the leader of the gang. Held in the Assembly Room. No registration required.

*Program funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Studio—Creativity, Art, Fabrication, and Technology lab.  The CrAFT Studio will combine the MakerSpace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.
