Main Library hours are Monday through Wednesday 9am-9pm, Thursday through Saturday 9am-6pm. Branch hours vary.

The 135th USCT: In their Own Words

Amy Bauer will present her genealogical research on the 200 North Carolina men that served in 135th regiment of US Colored Troops (USCT) during the Civil War. Bauer’s research emphasizes that while the 135th USCT are a lesser known part of North Carolina’s Civil War history, their efforts should not be forgotten. Held in the Assembly Room. Wilson County Genealogical Society Meeting

Dr. James Bailey, professor emeritus, Minnesota State University, Mankato and Margaret Bailey, B.A., English Literature and Secondary Education, University of North Carolina at Wilmington will present the “Northfield Robbery: Wilson County Genealogical Connections to Jesse James.” The presentation will include information about Wilson County surnames and possible connections to Jesse James, the leader of the gang. *Program funded by a Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) Grant awarded to Wilson County Public Library for the creation of a CrAFT Studio—Creativity, Art, Fabrication, and Technology lab. The CrAFT Studio will combine the MakerSpace movement with STEAM subjects through robotics, coding, crafts, electronics, and more.
