Six authors, all members of Franklin County Arts Council Writers’ Guild, will be selling and signing copies of their books at The Rusted Hinge Marketplace in downtown Zebulon Sunday, November 4, 2018, 2-4pm. The writers will also be happy to answer questions about their books, their writing process and other related topics.
Jackie Dove-Miller — Jackie Dove-Miller is a retired English teacher who lives in Franklin County, NC. Since retiring, she spends her time as a spoken-word artist, playwright, poet and photographer. Jackie was named Franklin County’s “Artist of the Year” in 2013. She has published several books of poetry. She will be launching her newest book at this event: Beauty and Truth: A Buffet of Poetry.
Kathryn Ewers Bundy — Kathy lives and writes in Raleigh. Her novels portray the lives of women in the US from the 1850s until the present. She weaves stories with unexpected characters whose lives don’t always fit the norm but come to life in familiar ways. She lives with her artist wife, Jill, and an assortment of furry friends. Her book titles include: The New Women, Daughters of Buxton, Way Out in Dog Heaven, Haints in the Side Yard, Gaddy’s Song, Treasures Found.
K.F. Whatley — Kay’s professional writing experience spans 20+ years. Starting with published technical books, then moving into news reporting, she dove into fiction in 2006 — picking up where her teen self had left off. After publishing fiction and poetry in local literary journals for years, she made the leap to Kindle publishing in 2017, and her first fiction novel in 2018. Wife of Frank, mother, stepmother, and grandmother, she fills her time with family, writing, and trying not to trip over cats. She is based in Eastern North Carolina, with ocean in one direction and foothills in the other. She will be signing her novel Making Corrections
Kim Beall — Kim is the author of “Seven Turns,” a contemporary Southern Gothic fantasy with just a touch of romance. She started sneaking into the basement to read her parents’ massive book collection when she was nine years old, and spent her teenage years writing reams of Awesome Novels. This might have worked out better for her if she had not written them during math class. She sincerely believes every adult still yearns, not so deep inside, to find real magic in everyday life.
Donna Campbell Smith — Donna has been a published author and freelance writer for nearly twenty years. Her titles include three historical fiction novels for young readers: Pale as the Moon, An Independent Spirit, and Bear Song. Her grownup’s novel In the Library with the Pruning Shears has recently been followed by a second in her cozy mystery series In the Library with the Dictionary. She will have all of her novels available at the signing. Donna also has four published non-fiction books: The Book of Miniature Horses, The Book of Draft Horses, The Book of Mules and The Book of Donkeys.
Micheal Nelson — Micheal is a lifelong SciFi fan, yet Christian and contrarian, futurist. “What if…?” questions bugged Micheal Lee Nelson until he had to write his answers down. So, began many years of research, brainstorming, and worldbuilding his future Galactic setting, and creating interesting characters who come alive inside those worlds. Now Micheal has written and independently published his first novel. CERES 2525 is a clean read, military space opera; an action adventure saga now available in local Indie bookstores and on Amazon.com.
