Starting Late May 2016, Museum Takes Kids on a 50-State Learning Adventure in the Trivial Pursuit®, a 50-State Adventure! Exhibit

Released by Tameka Kenan-Norman, City of Rocky Mount NC

May 8, 2016 offered the last opportunity to check out the exhibit, “Design Zone 2,” at the Children’s Museum and Science Center. The museum is closed May 9 through May 27, 2016, for an exhibit changeover.

The Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, the Maria V. Howard Arts Center and Milton and Miles will remain open.

According to Leigh White, museum curator, the museum will be home to a new exhibit after the changeover. Children and families are invited to take a pretend trip across the United States in the new educational Trivial Pursuit®, A 50-State Adventure! The Imperial Centre for the Arts and Sciences, the Maria V. Howard Arts Center and Milton and Miles will remain open.

Created in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc, visitors to the exhibit will travel to each of the 50 states and D.C. to explore U.S. geography, history and culture. Exhibit activities feature favorite American travel, sports and leisure pastimes, music from across the nation, and fun and important information about well-known people, places and historical events. Children will pretend to power a riverboat down the Mississippi, hit a home run at Fenway Park, build the Saint Louis Gateway Arch, ride a mule into the Grand Canyon, snorkel in Hawaii, enjoy winter fun in Wisconsin and so much more.

The Trivial Pursuit® ‘play the game’ experience is a great way for visitors of all ages to get in on the fun. Test your knowledge and challenge yourself to find the answers to win a “piece of the pie!” The touch-screen trivia game kiosks found throughout the exhibit have questions ranging from easy to hard about U.S. geography, history, arts and literature, science and nature, sports and leisure and entertainment. The whole family will learn something new about the US as they play together.

“We are excited to host this summer Trivial Pursuit®, A 50-State Adventure! It is the ultimate way to see the whole country while on a stay-cation,” says White.

The 2,200 sq. ft. exhibit emphasizes academic standards for school-age children and provides lots of engaging activities for early learners, too. Hands-on activities present opportunities for children to build cognitive and social skills, be physically active, curious and imaginative, and express themselves through music, movement and art. Educational content in the exhibit reflects developmental milestones for early learners set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and Wisconsin and national academic standards for school-age children.
Trivial Pursuit®, A 50-State Adventure! is the fourth exhibit produced by the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum in collaboration with Hasbro, Inc.
