Franklin County Arts Council will be celebrating Salvador Dali’s birthday at their first Spring Gala to be held on May 20, 2017, 6-9pm, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley Whitaker on 210 Winston Street, Franklinton, North Carolina.

Everyone will receive a Dali mustache at the door to get in the spirit of the event. To join in the full spirit of the event patrons are invited to come dressed as Dali or their favorite artist.

Be sure to bring money as there will be exciting items in the auctions and raffles. The evening will feature a “FUN” Fundraising Auction with art works, commercial products and services to be auctioned. Participants will be able to bid on such items as a variety of gifts certificates and gift baskets, lots of art, jewelry, a first edition signed copy of Jimmy Carter’s book Faith Living, an afternoon of colonial cooking and life with Peggy and Penny McGhee, a photo shoot with pet photographer Tammy Winkel, pottery and more.

The winning ticket will be drawn for one of the two 21″ x 29″ watercolor paintings titled “Carving a Duck” and “Carving a Horse” donated by Everett Mayo (matted and framed). The paintings are valued at $1,200 each. The watercolors are currently on display at the FCAC Gallery in downtown Franklinton.

No party is a party without food and music and there will be both at the gala. Mister Felix will again provide the music and catering will be by Mary Rose Joyner.

FCAC Coordinator Pamela Andrejev says, “The Arts Council looks forward to seeing community support at our major fundraiser for 2017. We have a team that has been working hard on this and should prove to be fun for all.”

The gala committee are accepting donations for the auctions. Gala sponsorships are $50. Contact the arts council by emailing fcacarts@gmail.com or call 919.497.6910 to donate an item or be a sponsor. Funds from the Gala help FCAC carry on their many programs.
