Inspired by a visit her mother made to a friend at a nursing home, Susan Aceti felt a need to do something to bring joy to the residents. She set a plan to give them a special treat on Valentine’s weekend, to give them a change from their schedule and reach out a caring hand.
Susan used her fundraising abilities to pull together businesses from Zebulon NC and surrounding towns to build “love bags” and plan a special giving day for the residents, and staff, at Zebulon House. Susan asked local businesses to “share the love” and they did, filling the totes in a few short weeks.
One tote will be given to each resident at Zebulon House, plus treats provided for the staff. Each resident is receiving a ThirtyOne bag full of toiletries, treats, and puzzle books. The love bag giveaway at Zebulon House is scheduled February 13, 2016, at 11am.
Local business donors include:
- Brown Bag Bagels (Wendell)
- Ray Family Farms (Louisburg)
- Wendell General Store (Wendell)
- McLean’s Ole Time Cafe (Zebulon)
- Olde Heritage Builders (Zebulon)
- Barnes Collision Repair Center (Zebulon)
- Bravos Pizzeria (Wendell)
- Simple Soap and Balm (Zebulon)
- Carlie C’s (Zebulon)
Additionally, these volunteers helped Susan with preparations; K-Lee Daniel, Kris Lescinsky, Darlene Richardson, Portia Walls, Angela Dorrzapf, Susan Faber, Nichole Williamson, Pat Kendrick, Beverly Clark, Dianne Pearce, Michelle Lawson, and Carolyn Williams.
Zebulon House is at 551 Pony Road, in Zebulon. More information about the facility is at www.meridiansenior.com/community/zebulonhouse.
