More than 1,200 people flooded N.E. Main Street between Goldleaf and Thomas Street in downtown Rocky Mount, North Carolina on Saturday for the inaugural Food Truck Invasion.
From seafood to burgers and Mexican to Cuban, cuisine to suit even the most finicky of taste buds was available. Sponsored by the city of Rocky Mount’s Community and Business Development Department, the Invasion included an on-site beer garden and music from Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee DJ Terminator X.
Said Assistant City Manager Natasha Hampton:
“This event has exceeded our expectations The turnout is wonderful, and the food is exceptional!”
With a variety of vendors lining the street in front of the Rocky Mount Event Center, patrons also were able to enjoy the center’s Gameday Adventure and Arcade free of charge. Managed by Burt and Brewington out of Raleigh, Rada Mills, a representative for the company, expressed excitement for the event as well.
“To see the diversity of the trucks and the people, this is what food does, it brings people together.”
