Sunset Spray Park Set as Location for Inaugural Splash Bark Event

By Tameka Kenan-Norman, City of Rocky Mount

Dogs and their owners are invited to a one-of-a-kind event on Sunday, September 18, 2016, 2-5pm.  It’s the first ever Splash Bark at Sunset Spray Park.

Fur family members and their human companions will be able to take a trip on the train, ride around in circles on the carousel, and even wade through the waters at the spray park.

The city of Rocky Mount Parks and Recreation department is building on the success of the April 2016 “Paws in the Park” event and the opening of Best Friend’s Dog Park with Splash Bark, and it promises to be an afternoon of fun for dogs and owners alike.

“We have a vibrant and excited dog lovers’ population in our community,” said Alex Langley, director of the Rocky Mount Senior Center and event organizer. “Events like this enable us to provide increased activities for our four legged friends and their owners.”

Sunset Spray Park is located in Sunset Park, 1550 River Drive, Rocky Mount NC.

Participants will need to enter through the concessions building and proof of rabies vaccination will be required upon entry. Dogs will be allowed to go off-leash in the spray park area only. In all other areas, a leash will be necessary.

Ice cream for owners and pets will be available for purchase.

For further information, contact Alex Langley at 252.972.1562.
