Wendell’s residents, property and business owners will gather to develop an Economic Positioning Statement/vision for the Town on Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 6-8:30pm, at the Board Room of Wendell Town Hall at 15 E Fourth Street, Wendell, North Carolina. The Forum is open to the public.

The Town of Wendell has asked the NC Main Street & Rural Planning Center, a division of the NC Department of Commerce to facilitate the Community Vision/Economic Positioning Forum to craft an economic development vision/positioning statement for the Town. Community visioning is the process of developing consensus about what future the community wants, and then deciding what is necessary to achieve it. A vision/economic positioning statement captures what community members most value about their community, and the shared image of what they want their community to become.

Said Mayor Virginia Gray:

“This is a positive move forward in the future of the Town of Wendell. The economic positioning/vision statement will provide a framework for the Town and its citizens to make rational and disciplined decisions on community issues such as land use planning and more.”

The NC Main Street and Rural Planning Center (MS&RPC) is part of the NC Department of Commerce, the state’s lead agency for workforce, community, and economic development. In this capacity, the Center provides planning assistance and downtown revitalization to communities across the state, primarily in economic development planning.
