Concert Series to Feature Fan Favorites and Familiar Faces
Kick-off features the Legacy Motown Revue
Released by Tameka Kenan-Norman, City of Rocky Mount
Downtown Live!, the summer music series presented by PNC and hosted by the City of Rocky Mount NC, will be held on the Imperial Centre lawn beginning May 12, 2016, with subsequent events every-other Thursday through September 29, 2016. Doors open at 5pm, and music starts at 6pm.
“We are starting off old-school style this year with Legacy Motown Revue. Liquid Pleasure is coming back, by popular demand, and we will end the season on a high note with The Embers featuring Craig Woolard,” says Susan Phelps, special events coordinator for the City of Rocky Mount. “We have 11 dates again this summer, and we hope to exceed last year’s record-breaking attendance.”
The family friendly music series is free and open to the public. Other bands to be showcased during the 2016 concert series include:
- The Entertainers (May 26)
- Jim Quick & Coastline (June 9)
- the Castaways (June 23)
- The Band of Oz (July 7)
- Liquid Pleasure (July 21)
- Hip Pocket (August 4)
- The Tams (August 18)
- Steve Owens and Summertime (September 1)
- The East Coast Rhythm and Blues Band (September 15)
- The Embers featuring Craig Woolard (September 29)
Repeating the successful formula from last year, the Downtown Live! season will conclude one week before the Eastern Carolina BBQ Throw Down (in October).
“It worked out really well for us last year, having the extended season,” says Phelps. “This year, we are excited to welcome several new sponsors, including Cargo Transporters, Krispy Kreme and the Raleigh News and Observer. This looks to be our best year yet!”
