Free Tax Service (March 2, 3, and 4, 2017 @ 9am)

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance will be holding a Free Tax Service every Thursdays and Fridays 9am-5pm, and Saturdays 9am-12:30pm, in the Town Council Chambers, Harold D. Cooley Library, 114 W Church Street, Nashville NC. This free service is first come, first served and will run through April 13, 2017. More dates may be listed here.

Adult Movie and Munchies (March 2, 2017 @ 5:30-7:30pm)

Held by the Nashville NC Chamber of Commerce each month on the first Friday. Gather at the Nashville Exchange, 229 W Washington Street, Nashville NC. Each First Friday Coffee is sponsored by a local business and coffee is provided to meeting attendees.

Ferrells Fire & Rescue Fish Fry (March 3, 2017)

The signs are up on the side of the road… Ferrells F&R is holding a fish fry tonight. Last year, it started at 5:30pm. This volunteer fire department+EMS, is located in the Samaria area along Route 97, near the junction with Highway 231.  The fire station address is 9589 NC-97, Middlesex NC. Stop by to pick up a tasty meal and help the department raise funds.

Teen Science Cafe: Following Floods Downstream (March 3, 2017 @ 6-7pm)

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences presents this special presentation on flooding. According to the museum event description, “Russell Rhodes, the de facto flood mayor of Kinston, will discuss the environmental, social, and economic costs associated with stormwater runoff and how flooding from one storm can affect two areas so differently.” This event is free and all teens are welcome. ABC Craft and Learn: A Kindergarten Readiness Program (March 4 and 11, 2017 @ 10:30-11:15am)

Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers are invited to participate in this free, interactive program with an alphabet craft to nurture pre-reading skills through writing and play and to give opportunity to develop fine motor skills children require to start school. No registration needed. Held at Wendell Community Library, 207 S Hollybrook Road, Wendell NC.

This reading program is also being held on this date, 10:30-11:30am, at Zebulon Community Library, 1000 Dogwood Drive, Zebulon NC.

On Saturdays at 11:30am, the program is held at East Regional Library, 946 Steeple Square Court, Knightdale NC.

Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Party (March 4, 2017 @ 10am-noon)

The Edgecombe County Memorial Library is holding a Dr. Seuss’ Birthday Celebration. Kids of all ages are invited to join in this free event, which will feature Dr. Seuss stories, games, crafts, snacks, and door prizes. Edgecombe County Memorial Library is located at 909 N Main Street, Tarboro NC. International Festival of Cultures (March 4, 2017 @ noon-4pm)

Celebrate the diverse cultures of Rocky Mount. There will be food and entertainment. Held in the Brown Auditorium, Nash Community College, 522 N Old Carriage Road, Rocky Mount NC.

Dig In! (March 4, 2017 @ 8:15am-2pm)

This annual event is organized by Advocates for Health in Action, and held at the Marbles Kids Museum, 201 E Hargett Street, Raleigh NC. All are invited to “Get all the “dirt” on starting and maintaining community, school and child care gardens and learn about the growing urban ag scene in Wake County.” Tickets $15-$25. Party with a Purpose (March 4, 2017 @ 7-11pm)

Saturday enjoy this black-tie ticketed event hosted at the Wendell Community Center, 601 West Third Street, Wendell NC. The party theme is Mardi Gras, and includes a silent auction, raffle, entertainment, and a best mask contest. Fundraiser for the Wendell Appearance Commission (link) with funds raised going towards public art, including a mascot statue. For more information or tickets, contact Patrick Reidy, Planner, via email or call 919.365.4448.

Wilson Spring EXPO 2017 (March 4, 2017 @ 10am-5pm)

Spring EXPO brings together businesses, service providers, and local organizations for a day of information sharing and networking. NC MUFON Chapter Meeting (March 4, 2017 @ 2-4:30pm)

NC MUFON is holding its next chapter meeting at the Asheboro Public Library, 201 Worth Street, Asheboro NC. Guest speaker is author, and longtime UFO investigator, Rob Shelsky. Mr. Shelsky will be sharing research and information from his book, Deadly UFOs and the Disappeared. There will also be updates on NC UFO reports, and a review of last year’s cases. UFO books and DVDs will be given as door prizes. There is no admission charge for the meeting, however a $5 donation would be appreciated. The North Carolina Department of Revenue and the Internal Revenue Service will present this seminar. Each agency will cover basic requirements to help businesses in North Carolina understand the laws and obligations necessary to be compliant. At the end of the seminar, there will be a question and answer session with the presenters and networking possibilities with other business owners. Paramount Movie Nights (March 7, 2017 @ 7pm)

Annual Carolina Mudcats National Anthem Tryouts (March 11, 2017 @ 10am-noon)

Are you interested in performing the National Anthem at a Mudcats game this season? The Mudcats are holding open tryouts for National Anthem singers and pre-game entertainers. Tryouts will be at Five County Stadium, 1501 NC-39, Zebulon NC. Registration begins at 9am on the third base side of the stadium. Auditions will be held on a first come, first served basis. 2017 Come to the Table Conference (March 16, 2017 @ 8am-5pm)

This Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI) event is a biennial gathering of food, faith, and farm advocates focused on relieving hunger and strengthening local, sustainable agriculture in NC. 152nd Anniversary “War So Terrible” (March 18-19 @ 10am-4pm)

Held at the Bentonville Battlefield State Historic Site, 5466 Harper House Road, Four Oaks NC. View examples of modern military field hospitals, or tour the Harper House to learn about Civil War era medicine. Daytime programs feature artillery, infantry, and home-front demonstrations throughout both days, and are free. ProTown BMX 2017 (March 25, 2017 @ 11am-3pm)

Come out to Downtown Wendell and be in awe when professional bikers catch air on Main Street at this free event. ProTown BMX is high energy, fast paced and the opportunity for extreme biker enthusiasts to watch, meet, and hear about bike safety from professionals who show case their talents with tricks in the air on their bikes.  The action will be set up on Main Street between Fourth Street and Depot Street, Wendell NC. Barbecue teams compete in a whole-hog cook-off for the “Wayne County’s Best Barbecue” title. There will be music, vendors, inflatables for children, and more.
