Denver, Colorado’s Civic Center Park will be filled with art experiences during the 45th annual People’s Fair on June 4 and 5, 2016. Offering fine art, handcrafted art, live demonstrations with an opportunity to paint, and an arts competition, the People’s Fair creates an art-full weekend for families to enjoy.

For the first year, the People’s Fair will partner with the Denver Arts Festival to present Fine Art Avenue. Showcasing the works of 81 juried local and regional fine artists, Fine Art Avenue will be located on 14th Avenue between Broadway and Bannock Streets. Media categories include ceramics, digital, drawing/graphics, fiber, glass, jewelry (all parts original), leather, metal, mixed media, painting, photography, sculpture, and wood.

Local and regional handcrafted arts also will be available throughout the Fair site in the following categories: children’s items, dried floral, jewelry (beaded or strung), mixed media, paper, scents and oils/candles/soaps, wearable art and wood. More than 250 exhibitors will display their handcrafted goods.

Art in the Park will give the public an opportunity to paint their own masterpieces by following along with guest artist and instructor, Tommy Nahulu. There will be three Art in the Park painting sessions per day at the People’s Fair Wine Pavilion (located near the south west corner of Colfax and Broadway in Denver CO). Tickets are available now at www.peoplesfair.com or may be purchased onsite at the Wine Pavilion.

For the 17th year, the People’s Fair will present the Mural Project, a theme-based art competition in which small teams of young Denver artists design and execute 6-foot by 8-foot canvas murals onsite during the People’s Fair. This year’s theme is “Your Neighborhood, Your Future,” and artists are given creative freedom to interpret the theme at their discretion.

Participating organizations for this year’s project include Boys and Girls Club Wilfley Branch, Colorado’s Finest High School of Choice, Ridgeview Academy, Pangloss Gravitron and Compassion Road Academy.

The Mural Project will be located in the Promenade on the west side of Broadway between 14th Avenue and Colfax. A judging ceremony will take place on Sunday, June 5. The public is encouraged to participate in the voting process by voting for the “People’s Choice” mural.

Produced by Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods (CHUN), the People’s Fair is a community-oriented, volunteer-based art and music festival benefitting CHUN and other nonprofit organizations.

The People’s Fair is free and open to the public. Tickets for carnival attractions, games, food, and beverages will be available at the four main intersections of the Fair and on mid-Bannock, mid-Broadway and in the center of Civic Center Park. Tickets cost $5 for a strip of 8 tickets.
