In advance of the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce annual Awards Recognition & Reception, the chamber is calling for nominations. Submit an individual or business for one of the chamber awards, which will be given during the reception.
Once a person has been nominated, the nomination and review process will be:

  • Businesses and individuals will be notified of their nomination
  • Business Engagement & Retention Committee will review and narrow down to 3 finalists in each category
  • All nominees will be recognized at the Annual Awards event

The deadline for submitting nominations is April 18, 2016.

The awards event is scheduled for May 3, 2016, at Knightdale Station Park’s Pavilion, 810 N First Avenue, Knightdale NC. The theme of this year’s event “Making Community Impact: One Relationship at a Time” will highlight the Chamber’s re-energized commitment to deepening relationships that enrich the prosperity of our business and local community.

Awards for which nominations are being accepted are:

  • Knightdale’s Citizen of the Year
  • Small Business of the Year
  • Large Business of the Year
  • Ambassador of the Year

The 2016 Awards for which nominees are being accepted are described below:

Knightdale Chamber of Commerce “Ambassador” of the Year

Recognizes an individual that serves on the Ambassador Committee and has demonstrated commitment to promoting member engagement within the Chamber through outreach to new and existing members, and displays a “Let’s Make it Happen” attitude..

Knightdale Chamber of Commerce “EDGE” Small Business of the Year

  • Recognizes and honors businesses who have demonstrated best practices of leadership, innovation and excellence.
  • Business opened up to 1 year or more.
  • Presented to a firm or business with an employee base fewer than 20 employees.
  • Be a member in good standing with the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce.
  • Be privately held – includes partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, C&S corporations, franchises and family businesses.
  • Has a substantiated record as an established business and made an impact in the Knightdale Community.
  • May not have received any of these awards in the last three years.
  • Businesses will be judged on innovation, success, community service and/or environmental friendly approach.

Knightdale Chamber of Commerce “EDGE” Large Business of the Year

  • Recognizes the value and importance of local businesses in the Knightdale Community that have demonstrated best practices of leadership, innovation and excellence.
  • Business opened for 3 years or more.
  • Presented to a firm or business with an employee base of 21+ employees.
  • Be a member in good standing with the Knightdale Chamber of Commerce.
  • Be privately held – includes partnerships, LLCs, LLPs, C&S corporations, franchises and family businesses.
  • Demonstrated growth through at least two years of operations.
  • Has a substantiated record as an established business and made an impact in the Knightdale Community.
  • May not have received any of these awards in the last three years.
  • Businesses will be judged on innovation, success, community service and/or environmental friendly approach.

2016 Knightdale Citizen of the Year

  • Recognizes the impact one local citizen has made on the Knightdale Community through his or her demonstrated leadership and service towards the greater good of all.
  • Has made a significant impact in the Knightdale Community through volunteer service, civic involvement and/or community leadership.
  • Be a current Knightdale resident.
  • Nominee cannot be a member of the Town Staff or currently serving on the Chamber Board of Directors.
  • Civic and non-profit organizations may submit nominations.

Knightdale Chamber of Commerce Awards Ceremony

Celebrate the “Citizen of the Year” and other award winners with a reception on May 3, 2016, beginning at 5:30pm, and the live auction and awards starting at 6:45pm.

Tickets are $40 per person — after April 19, 2016, tickets are $45 until RSVP closes on April 26, 2016 when the final count is needed. Online registration is available here.  RSVP is required.

In addition, this event marks the “changing of the guard” — the incoming Chamber President.

The Emcee for the evening will be Mike Wheless, Q-Morning Crew, 94.7 QDR. It is being held at Knightdale Station Park, 810 N First Avenue, in Knightdale NC. The Awards Recognition and Reception event includes networking, music by Magic Pipers Band, a live auction, and heavy hors d’oeuvres.
