Free Class Meets Monday Nights – Apply by February 17
Released by Town of Knightdale
The Knightdale Police Department is continuing a program designed to give its citizens and area business owners a chance to develop a better understanding of the services provided by the agency. Our Citizens Police Academy is a collaborative effort between local residents, business owners and police officers that will help identify problems, generate community-oriented solutions, and build the kind of trust critical to creating a safe and pleasant community.
Classes for this free 8-week academy will be held every Monday evening from 6pm until 8:30pm in the Training Room of the Public Safety Building, located at 979 Steeple Square Ct in Knightdale NC. Classes will begin February 29, 2016, and meet every Monday until April 25, 2016, with the exception of the Spring Break week.
Applicants to the Citizens Police Academy must be 18 years of age or older. High school students under the age of 18 may attend if the appropriate parental waivers are provided. Preference will be given to residents of Knightdale, local business owners and civic group members, but all Eastern Wake community members are encouraged to apply. Participants must have no criminal history of felonies or serious misdemeanors.
Due to space restrictions, class size is limited to 20 eligible participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Applications may be picked up in person at the Knightdale Police Department, or can be downloaded online at www.knightdalenc.gov. Applications must be submitted to the police department by February 17, 2016.
If you have any questions about the academy please contact Captain Jacqui Boykin by email or phone 919.217.2263.
