Carmike 10-Wilson Movie Review of the Issue: Prometheus

By Kay Whatley, Editor

The movie review this issue is Prometheus, a “prequel” to the Alien movies of the 1980s. Regardless of whether you’re a fan of the Alien movies, this sci-fi flick offers quite a bit of science, fiction, and action.

Prometheus runs a little over 2 hours. Its visual effects seemed top-notch, with actors seeming to be inside the space craft, walking through planet surfaces, and facing horrific creatures (and some gross ones!).

Rated R, parents may want to leave younger children — and gore-hating teens — home when watching this movie. There are some violent scenes, including characters being killed horribly and a bloody operation. Pick another film if you don’t like blood and gore!

Overall, the characters are interesting and include some mystery as to each person’s motives. And some of the displays of “alien science” are just plain beautiful to watch!
