Senior Health Programs Scheduled in Eastern NC

Upper Coastal Plains Council of Governments Area Agency on Aging is holding several workshops designed to assist older citizens with health maintenance.

These upcoming workshops may have limited class size. Register early to avoid missing the workshop you’d like to attend.

The Living Healthy Workshop

Are you age 60 and better with an ongoing health condition such as diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, heart disease, chronic pain, or cancer? The Living Healthy workshop can help you take control of your health!

Attend this 2-1/2 hour workshop, once-a-week for six weeks. This workshop is held afternoons (1-3:30pm) on Wednesdays, October 19-November 16, and on Tuesday, November 22, 2016.

  • Learn from trained volunteer leaders
  • Set goals
  • Make a step-by-step plan to improve your health
  • Manage Pain
  • Increase Fitness
  • Manage Medications
  • Improve Communication with Heath Providers
  • Choose Foods for Health

This workshop is provided at no cost to adults age 60 and older. There is a $35 fee for adults under the age of 60.

The location is the J.W. Faison Senior Center, 110 Ridgecrest Lane, Jackson, North Carolina.

Chronic Pain Self-Management Program

Are you age 60 and better with any ongoing health condition such as fibromyalgia, arthritis, or any other conditions that cause chronic pain? The Chronic Pain Self-Management Program workshop can help you take control of your health!

This 2-1/2 hour workshop is held once a week for six weeks on Thursday afternoons (1-3:30pm), October 6-November 10, 2016. Class size is limited.

  • Learn from trained volunteer leaders
  • Tools to help better sleep patterns, reduce tense muscles, reduce depression/anxiety, increase movements, reduce fatigue, and help with better breathing.
  • Set goals & make a step-by-step plan to improve your health
  • Manage Pain & get a better understanding of pain medications
  • Improve Communication with Health Providers

This workshop is provided at no cost to adults age 60 and older. There is a $35 fee for those under the age of 60.

The location is the Jo Story Senior Center, 701 Jackson Street, Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina.
