Each year, the Wendell Parks and Recreation Department invites community members to set up tables along the “Treat Trail” in Wendell Community Park. The goal is a safe, fun environment for local children to trick-or-treat. It also helps local businesses show their community spirit and gain visibility.
The Parks and Rec folks are now seeking local businesses to participate. Sign up, and then on October 28, 2016, your business will be a part of the trail, handing out candy and goodies to local youngsters in costume.
The trail will be twice as long for 2016. The 2015 Treat Trail drew over 1,200 children and their families — three times the number originally expected. Plan accordingly for business cards, pencils, or logo items that your business plans to pass out during the event.
To help businesses with handing out candy for all, bulk purchases are being negotiated with a local retailer to lower the treat costs for businesses. For safety, only pre-packaged treats may be given out (no baked or homemade items).
Keep in mind when decorating your business table that the trail should be non-scary. Parks and Rec plans to hold a contest for best decorated table, and one business participant can win a community center voucher good for rentals of an activity or conference room.

Wendell Treat Trail Invites Costumed Kids for Oct. 28 Fun
Looking for a safe and spooktacular outing for your young ghouls and goblins? Bring the kids to the Wendell Community Park and walk along the Treat Trail.
The trail is non-scary, designed for visitors 12-years-of-age and under. In addition to walking the trail to gather treats, there will be hay rides, and local business people for Mom and Dad to get to know.
Wendell Community Park is located at 601 W Third Street, in Wendell NC. The event is Friday, October 28, 2016, 5-8pm.
Bring a treat bag, a parent or guardian, and optionally a flashlight. Costumes are optional, but if you wear one you’re adding to the fun!
Admission to the Treat Trail is free.
