A Wilson County family farm is holding their eighth annual “Spring Fling” festival to kick off the strawberry season and give families a fun day. The Spring Fling is scheduled for May 7, 2016, 10am-2pm, at Deans Farm Market, 4231 NC Hwy 42 W, Wilson NC.

Says Courtney Sharp of Deans Farm Market, “We have been working hard on our upcoming Spring Fling and hope to make it a wonderful family event for Wilson, and it’s surrounding counties.”

Family activities are planned, and the community is invited. There will be fun things to do, farm produce, berry picking, vendors, and tunes from ShanSound throughout the day.

The farm’s playground will be open. It includes their Jolly Jump, corn pit, hay pit, large sandbox, large enclosed slide, animal barn, and more. Free face painting is planned for the kids, and free entry into the Spring Fling. There will be .25 cents games for kids to play throughout the day.

The farm plans to have their U-Pick fields open, weather permitting, and will have strawberries already picked in the market. Other market items include fresh produce, meat, locally made candles and soap, and outdoor decor.

This event offers an opportunity to enjoy the day, and support a local farm! Vendors from a variety of local artists and producers will be on-hand for a chance to buy local goods while enjoying the market festival. Vendors will be open throughout the 10am-2pm event. Expected are the following:

  • ShanSound with Shannon McKinnon
  • Scentsy with Angie Webb
  • 31 Consultant with Tara Harrison
  • Lularoo with Carolyn Ellis
  • Initials Inc. with Angie Stallings
  • Usborne Books with Laura Aiuto

A public parking lot is available at the Deans Farm Market.

If the weather takes a turn, the make-up date for the Spring Fling will be the following day, May 8, 2016, in the afternoon noon to 4pm.

Deans Farm Market describes itself as “an authentic working farm that embodies the heritage of agriculture for children through engagement with a working landscape.”

In addition to the U-Pick fields and produce farming, Deans Farm Market holds Summer Day Camps for children from pre-Kindergarten through 5th grade.  Children may come for a three days in the same week ($60), or attend all the summer farm camps ($540). Summer Camp Registration is online, as are more details about each week’s programs.
